Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) set its Minister Meeting in Siem Reap, Cambodia

The Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) is a natural economic area bound together by the Mekong River, covering 2.6 million square kilometers and a combined population of around 326 million.

In 1992, the six countries entered into a program of subregional economic cooperation, designed to enhance economic relations among the countries.By inviting tour operators and executives from hospitality and the MICE (events) markets, the meeting’s organisers hope to develop partnerships between the agriculture, tourism, environment sectors and develop specialty food products and services that can be offered at premium prices.

Interest in agro-tourism is reviving as tour operators recognise they must deliver a travel experience that is active rather than offering passive sightseeing.

Agro-tourism fits the bill and recent trending reports suggest that even the Chinese travel market is shifting from the standard shopping and sightseeing tours to itineraries that explore culture and offer rural activities linked to agriculture.

AMM-2 will showcase the wide array of safe and environment-friendly agro-food products and agro-tourism destinations from the six Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) countries.

The member nations are: Cambodia; China; Lao PDR; Myanmar; Thailand and Vietnam.

In its announcement to the travel trade the MTO said the event aims to identify agro-food products and services with high potential and to connect them with the tourism sector in the GMS.

Sessions will also focus on promoting food safety, improving agriculture value chain linkages, and expanding opportunities for small stakeholders to export.

For more than two decades, the six countries of the Greater Mekong Subregion have been working together under an economic cooperation program to realize their vision of a prosperous, integrated, and harmonious subregion.

The GMS Program has adopted a three-pronged strategy (the 3 Cs):
Strengthening connectivity through physical infrastructure and the development of economic corridors.
Improving competitiveness through market integration and the facilitation of cross-border trade and travel.
Building a sense of community by addressing shared social and environmental concerns.

The GMS Program, with the support of development partners, helps identify and implement high-priority subregional projects in a wide range of sectors: agriculture, energy, environment, human resource development, information and communication technology, tourism, transport, transport and trade facilitation, urban development, and other multi-sector and border economic zones.

Since 1998, the GMS Program has been using economic corridors to promote economic growth and development. Economic corridors are investment areas, usually running along major highways, which connect centers of economic activity.

A path in Cambodia Year Zero.

First They Killed My Father.

2017 biographical historical thriller film directed by Angelina Jolie and written by Jolie and Loung Ung, based on Ung's memoir of same name. Set in 1975, the film depicts 5-year-old Ung who is forced to be trained as a child soldier while her siblings are sent to labor camps during the Khmer Rouge regime.

The film screened at the Telluride Film Festival and 2017 Toronto International Film Festival, and was released on Netflix, 15 September 2017.
"It's the story of a war through the eyes of a child, but it is also the story of a nation to remembered."

In 1970s was a meaningless war for Cambodia, unconditioned bombing on Cambodian land caused half a million innocent life. Cambodian remembered. What is left until today is nearly 4 millions landmines, most of it still remain uncleared.

There is evidence that during 1969 Lon Nol approached the US military establishment to gauge military support for any action against Sihanouk.
Following the coup, North Vietnam forces invaded Cambodia in 1970 at the request of Khmer Rouge leader Nuon Chea.

These events marked the start of the Cambodian Civil War pitting Lon Nol's regime backed by US air power against the Khmer Rouge and North Vietnam. Lon Nol fled Cambodia in 1975 right before the Khmer Rouge's seizure of power, it was the 'Year Zero.'

YouTube has refreshed its iconic logo and introduced some major design changes to its desktop and mobile apps following its 12 solid years on a leading edge of videos streaming.

New YouTube Logo 2017

The logo ditches the red colour inside the "Tube" part of the name and places the now familiar play icon to the left side of the YouTube name, said a report in Android Authority on Wednesday.

Google says the change allows the YouTube logo to work better "across a variety of devices, even on the smallest of screens".

According to reports, the service is also getting a new typeface, colour scheme and several major changes to the look, feel and functionality of its desktop and mobile app.

Living in Cambodia.

Modern Cambodia is the heir of once a Khmer Empire of South East Asia, one of the largest and strongest. It merely forgotten by other part of the world due to the civil war erupted in 70s' and the neighbouring war affair that eventually lead to a civil war and genocide under the Khmer Rouge Regime. It also bears the name of Killing Fields and 2 millions life lost.

The stability came after those dark period paying with an iron price.

Since then the Cambodian people have shown significant resolve in maintaining and upholding their ancient history and cultural practices. I arrived in Cambodia knowing very little about a country which has seen and come through it all until today.

I love food, be it just a street stall fried noodle or the most notably fine dining. Cambodian food had two other ingredients that give Khmer cuisines their fabulous typical flavour. One is a pungent fermented fish paste known as (pra-hok) and the other (kapi), a fermented prawn paste. These require an acquired taste for most but they are beloved by some who used them in many dishes or even taken as a dipping sauce. Collectively, these ingredients have become an important aromatic combination commonly used.

Not a single thing did I know about organizing or leading tours. However, back in 2015, I decided to offer a tour anyway, taking on the project with the exact same approach with which I’ve taken on just about in my life.

I started seeing thing that i endure most, the nature never failed to impress me,with so much details of history about civilization, I walked for hours just to look for a trace of the old ways and share it with those who visit here for a couple of days on holidays. Mostly people want to hear about Angkor temples or the Khmer Rouge, for me it is a study about people’s daily life, their social life and culture.

"See Cambodia and fill-up the missing pieces with history, with your imagination, with facts, with fun that all these makes your visit memorable."
